Welcome to our farm

Rainy Creek Trees will soon be in our 3rd year of selling deciduous trees. Our 6th-year trees will be planted in May, and we are looking forward to supplying customers with a homegrown product right here in Central Alberta.

Help us provide the product you are looking for.

Drop us a line or give us a call. We are always interested in the different varieties people are looking for. We will do our best to bring in your favorites.

We feel we are offering a different option to the consumer.  Our trees are planted in bags and can be dug up all season. The root ball is not cut or disturbed and makes for easier planting .  Come

DECIDUOUS FRUIT/ORNAMENTAL TREES

ODYSSEY APPLE

Malus "Jefsey"

Small tree that grows a hardy large yellow/green apple, similar in flavour to a gala apple. Needs second pollinator.

Showy clusters of fragrant white flowers in spring. Forest green foliage with pointy leaves that turn yellow in fall.

PARKLAND APPLE

Malus "Parkland"

Hardy tree, highly rated for the prairies.

Showy clusters of lightly scented white flowers with pink overtones. Fruit is a sweet crisp apple with a yellow/green flesh.


ZESTAR APPLE TREE

Malus "Zester"

Cold hardy- Medium growth rate-Rosy blush apple- Delicious- Stores well- Ripens early- Lightly scented white flowers- Nice fall colours.


FALL RED APPLE TREE

Malus "Fall Red"

Cold hardy- Medium growth rate-Rosy blush apple- Delicious- Stores well- Ripens early- Lightly scented white flowers- Nice fall colour.


MUCKLE PLUM

prunus x nigrella "muckle"

Smaller fruitless tree, hot pink flowers in spring. Nice fall colours, smooth black bark. Doesn't like standing water.

BROOKGOLD PLUM

prunus "brook gold"

Tarty golden-yellow fruit. White blooms in spring. Needs another Asian plum to pollinate. Nice fall colours.

STARLITE FLOWERING CRAB

malus x "Jeflite"

Excellent ornamental tree with beautiful glossy green leaves and white very aromatic flowers in the spring. Nice fall colours, with tiny fruit through the winter.

GLADIATOR FLOWERING CRAB

malus x astringents "durleo"

A compact beautiful tree with glossy purple leaves, gorgeous pink fragrant blossoms. Prairie hardy tree that prefers well-drained soil.

BAILEY'S SELECT SCHUBERT CHOKECHERRY

prunus virginiana 'Bailey'

Smaller accent tree with clouds of tiny white flowers in spring. Leaves start out green then turn purple mid-summer.  The oval leaves are highly ornamental and turn an outstanding red in the fall. Fruit attracts birds and we can eat.



EVANS CHERRY

prunus 'evans'

Hardy compact fruit tree with showy white flowers in spring, followed by loads of bright red sour cherries. Leaves turn orange in fall, has a smooth dark red bark.

PAULS PEAR

pyrus 'paul'

Prairie hardy tree which bears larger fruit, white flowers in spring. Upright columnar tree.


IVORY SILK TREE LILAC

syringa reticulate 'williamette'

A vigorous accent tree with showy plumes of fragrant white creamy flowers. Dark green foliage throughout the season with no fall colours. Smooth gray bark.

SNOWBIRD HAWTHORN

crataegus mordents  'snowbird'

Smaller tree with deeply lobed green foliage has double clusters of white flowers in spring followed by red berries. Nice fall colours.

BLACKHAWK MOUNTAIN ASH

sorbus aucuparia 'black hawk'

Smaller accent tree with oval compound leaves that turn orange and red in the fall. Attractive fluffy white flowers with clusters of orange fruit lasting well into winter.

OAKLEAF MOUNTAIN ASH

sorbus thuringiaca 'fastigiiata'

Slow growing tree with an upright oval crown. Silvery green leaves with white flowers followed by dark red berries.

GROOTENDORST MOUNTAIN ASH

Sorbus decora 'grootendorst'

Showy mountain ash full of fragrant white flowers and heavy clusters of red berries. Dark green foliage turns an outstanding red in the fall.

SHOOTING STAR NORTHERN PIN OAK

Quercus ellipsoidal 'DurMarg'

Slow growing long-lived tree with glossy green foliage that turns crimson red in the fall. 

OHIO BUCKEYE

aesculus glabra

Hardy, unique tree with unusual white flowers, nuts, fan-shaped leaves and beautiful fall colour.

RUSSIAN OLIVE

eleagnus angustifolia

A medium-sized tree that is drought and cold-resistant, known for its scented flowers, edible fruit, attractive silvery foliage and black bark. Be aware of its quick growing root system and sharp thorns.


PRAIRIE CASCADE WILLOW

salix  'prairie cascade'

Quick growing large tree with glossy leaves and bright twigs that form a distinctive weeping form. Yellow fall colour.

LACE WEEPING WILLOW

salix 'babylonica

Fast-growing tree with long bright green leaves, rough grey deep ridged bark. Yellow fall colour.

SWEDISH ASPEN

Fast-growing tree with dense canopy, branching starts near the ground. Forest green foliage with serrated oval leaves that turn yellow in fall. Furrowed grey bark.

AUTUMN BLAZE MAPE

acer x freeman 'jeffersred'

Large oval form tree. Leaves are green with a silver underside and red leaf veins. The intense vivid colour and rapid growth rate are the main reason to plant this tree. 

FLAME AMUR MAPLE

acer ginnala flame

A small tree that is very adaptable and showy. Blazing red fall colours and bright red fruit in summer.

WHITE OAK

Quercus alba

Long-lived but a slow-growing tree. Scaly grey bark, with leaves that have deep rounded lobes that turn purple-red in fall.

PARKLAND PILLAR

Betula platyphylla 'jefpark'

 A  columnar birch tree with green pointy leaves throughout the summer. Turns an outstanding gold in the fall. Showy white bark.

VARIEGATED GOLDEN DOGWOOD

Cornus alba gouchaultii

Fast-growing multi-stemmed shrub. Yellow-green leaves with white creamy flowers in spring, and bright red stems in winter.


CUTLEAF WEEPING BIRCH

Betula pendula laciniata

A large tree has showy weeping branches and peeling white bark with ferny green branches that turn a brilliant yellow in the fall.

PRAIRIE SPIRE GREEN ASH

Fast-growing, narrow pyramidal tree good for smaller landscapes. Dark green foliage turns a yellow autumn colour.
